Congratulations on some great climbs. I saw the most recent Bicylcing magazine article “Wall Streets”: they list the Onion Valley Climb as the hardest in the U.S for a 10 mile climb.

Your summary brought back waves of nostalgia I a tried this climb twice in my early 20’s; made it once!

Anyhow, awesome job, you have inspired me to try it again now that I am 45!!!

Y’all need to come out to Utah and do some of these mountain climbs; get a little altitude adjustment:) I am not in this league (or yours and Drew’s), but I have seen Zabriskie riding around out here in the past!

Dude. Got to have that cold weather gear in anything below 60 degrees (with wind esp.)and in mountains, where the weather can turn in an INSTANT. I ride in Utah and it is invaluable in keeping these old joints warm. Glad you all had a great journey!

Yss, the difference between temps at top and bottom of climbs can be alarming. But 60s isn’t cold!

Great ride Arlyn. Congrats again and you should feel confident about your trip to France. This was definitely a solid preparation. Bruyneel would be proud. I’ve been there too… looking for that magical 11th gear.:) And… I just may borrow that cold pickle tradition.
