@Donald and Andrew - I was thinking about an incident just like you both describe as I was rolling over the little buggers. I think I was pretty lucky. There is this section of the bike trail where the squirrels live on the left side and eat on the right side. When bikes (or whatever) come down the trail, they dash for the safety of home. I must have seen 10 or 15 squirrels making the last minute run for it. Of course, the two I hit were the first two I saw...

Funny that Andrew talked about an attack like that because the same thing happened to a friend of mine. A squirrel ran through his spokes and busted up several of them. The poor little squirrel was sliced up and there was evidence of that all over my buddy's legs and hair in the cassete and chain. So much hair he had to get a new chain. Oh, yes he was launched over the handlebars, cracked his helmet and his sunglasses. After recovering from being sore cuts, scrapes and bruises he's OK. WATCH OUT FOR SQUIRRELS!

I just did a search for squirrel attacks, and found quite a few. I was looking for the article I read the other day about a squirrel that snapped a carbon fork when it ran through the spokes of some guys front wheel, ouch. That will make you hit the deck in a hurry.
